Lightning ball

Room1 children all had a turn to touch a lightning  ball  this week.
Everyone wanted to know "How does it work"?
The glass ball contains a mixture of gases. When the current is turned on the base produces electromagnetic waves that turn the mixture of gases into lines of plasma that you can see.
The lines of plasma are called streamers and are attracted to your hand when you touch the glass.

Sometimes you can feel the streamers tickling your fingers!
We will write some stories about how that feels!
