Butterflies!

Our first caterpillar has hatched into a butterfly! We know it is a boy because he has a black spot on each lower wing.
Mrs Ryan has tagged him as part of a national tagging programme that tracks how far the butterflies fly. We watched him fly away over the school hall.
Room1 you are all citizen scientists!

Super workers!

Here are our super workers for the week.
Well done everyone!

Beebots

This Tuesday we programmed the beebot robots to follow coding instuctions.
We worked out how to move them sideways, forwards and backwards on the coding mats.

Well done Room1!

Our Portraits

Last week we all drew a personal portrait of ourselves.
Everyone checked the colour of their eyes and hair and thought about a favourite item of clothing to draw. Here they are!
We hope you like them as much as we do!

Buddies

We met our new Buddy Class for the first time this week.
They are Mr. McKay's Room 16.
We are working out who each big buddy will work well with.
Here are our first photos. We are working on improving our throwing, rolling and catching as well as having fun sharing story books together to begin with.
Our Buddy class day will be Monday so look out for some more photos then.

Valentines Day

Happy Valentines Day from Room1!

Robotics

On Tuesday we learned how to programme our sphero robots with the help of Mr Power.
We learned how to wake them up with the iPads and to change their colour and the speed they can travel. We used coding instructions to practise racing them down a track and found that it is much easier to move a sphero slowly! We also learned that you can't step backwards in case you tread on one by accident! It was great fun and we will have another turn soon.
