This week Room 1 have been busy creating their artwork for the Muritai School calendar fundraiser. The children have used felt pens and dye to draw their families. We hope you enjoy them! Later in the term orders will be taken for calendars, greeting cards and diaries. Artwork is on display in Room1.
In room 1 we are learning to write a recount of a fairy story. First we draw a row of brainstorm sketches in our writing books to get the events in the right order. Next we write a sentence about each sketch, trying to use some WOW (interesting) words to describe what is happening. Some of us are even learning how to use speech marks! We hope you enjoy reading these published stories. They are displayed on the wall
in Room 1.
Friday is testing day for Maths Carriage Basic Facts and Spelling Rockets in Room 1!
Everybody works at their own pace and moves on to the next level when they are ready.

Muritai School students are lucky to have many opportunities to extend themselves in a variety of activities. Last Saturday morning the Under 6 Rippa Rugby team played in the school grounds. This team has students from Rooms 1, 2 and 3. I was so impressed with the way they worked as a team to score! Great skills boys! Well done coaches! I hope to check out some more sports over the next few weeks.
Room 1 have been enjoying listening to Mr Laird read some some traditional Maori legends. Here are our drawings of Tane throwing the stars into the sky from his basket.
Teacher trainee Mr Jono Laird has joined Room 1 for the next seven weeks. The children are enjoying his input already and especially enjoy his animated story telling!
Welcome back to Term 3 in Room1. We have been very busy this week and are back into the swing of learning already!
New Basic Facts Maths Express and Spelling Rockets will come home each week and will be tested on Fridays.
Reading Rockets continue to be tested any day of the week.
