Today we carried out a science investigation with Skittles lollies in the S.T.E.M. room.
S.T.E.M. stands for Science,Technology, Engineering and Maths.
We filled a petri dish with water and put 4 skittles lollies spaced apart in the dish.
We made some predictions about what we thought would happen and then watched carefully to see what DID happen.
We were amazed to see that the lollies started to dissolve but the colours did not mix together by themselves and stayed in each corner.
Scientists are still not sure why this happens and are experimenting to find the answer.
When we tried hot water the same thing happened but more quickly!

What a fun experiment. I wonder why the colours didn't mix? Hopefully scientists will find an answer to that soon. I wonder if many lollies ended up dissolving in someone's tummy?! From Tilly's Mum.
