Junko's Visit

Today we were lucky to have Yoshiki's mum Junko visit us to help us learn to count in Japanese.

We counted using number cards and drew the numbers on the floor with our fingers!
We played a counting game called"Ikutsu", which is like Paper, Scissors, Rock.

Junko wore a beautiful kimono with an obi and special shoes.

We all thought she looked very beautiful!

We counted the number of times Junko could wrap the obi around some lucky children!

Junko showed us Japanese koi kites and Yoshiki showed us his wonderful  writing and read a story he had written in Japanese characters. He practises every day.

 You are very clever Yoshiki!
Thank you Junko and Yoshiki for sharing your culture with us!

Thank you Room1 to have me yesterday. You all had lovely manners and did so well in counting and writing in Japanese. The number you wrote was 753. They are not only numbers but also special event called 'Shichigosan' which parents take their children to shrines to pray for a life long happiness and health.

The type of Kimono I was wearing is called Yukata, a cotton summer kimono. You are all welcome to try it on, or to dress your mums.
