Maori Language Week

Room 1 were really excited when Mr Chadwick told us about his competition for Year 1 for Maori Language Week! Could we find out the meaning of the second longest Maori place name in New Zealand and remember it long enough to repeat it to back to him?
Lots of us thought we could!
And we did! Seven people remembered enough to earn balloons and stickers. Ka pai Room 1!

Here it is!

“The place where Tamatea, the man with the big knees, who slid, climbed and swallowed mountains, known as landeater, played his flute to his loved one.”
