Sound Waves

When we make sounds, vibrations pass through the air and other materials to meet our ears. Room 1 wanted to to see what vibrations looked like so we tried an experiment to find out. We filled a tray with water and waited till the water was really still. Amelia dropped in a little bead and we could see the little ripples as it hit the water. These ripples are like the vibrations of a soft sound. Artemisia dropped in a small stone. The ripples are bigger, like the vibrations of a louder sound. Daniel's rock made a huge splash, so we decided it was too big!

Room 11 had lots of fun helping you make the telephones. The experiment was very interesting. You are all very clever!
