Solar power on Tuesday

Scientist Stan Swann showed us how solar lamps work and we made our own with wine gums over the bulbs to change the colour.

Science Week;Dry ice on Monday!

On Monday we investigated dry ice in Room 17.
It was SO cold!

When we added water we could see the carbon dioxide gas.

We filled the purple balloon with carbon dioxide gas and the orange balloon with air.
When we dropped the balloons together the gas filled purple balloon dropped fastest.
We decided the carbon dioxide was heavier than the and when we checked in a book we were correct!

Magnets!

This term our science inquiry covers exploration of the properties and uses of magnets and later the class will learn how to connect a circuit to turn on a light.
Here we are experimenting to find out if all magnets are the same strength.

MoveMprove

This week we began a gymnastics and movement programme called  MoveMprove.

Exploring Magnetism

Today we tested the strength of various sized magnets in the new science room.
We discovered that the biggest magnets were not always the strongest by estimating and checking how many paper clips each one could pick up.
