At the Pool

Room 1 had their first visit to the Eastbourne pool this week.
We had great fun and everyone showed me how well they could swim!
Well done Room 1 - you are so confident in the water!

Balancing on a Coke Can!

Room 1 have been exploring mass,capacity and weight for maths this term.

One of our favourite investigations was how to balance objects on a balance made of a coke can and a piece of coreflute!

Our Clay necklaces!

We painted our clay beads and threaded them onto elastic to make necklaces.
Some of us are going to give a necklace to mum for Christmas!

Athletics.

This week we practiced the skills for 2 more activities for the Athletic Sports.
We lined up for the sprints.

Ready Set GO!

The next activity was shot put. 
The shot put balls are heavy rubber filled with jelly and they felt squishy and hard to hold!

Everyone had lots of turns and got better and better at throwing!

Keeping Safe on the Road

Constable Julie is working with Year 1&2 to help us keep ourselves safe when crossing the road.Here we are practising using the pedestrian crossing safely.

We learned how important it is to look down those sneaky driveways next to high fences where we can't see the traffic!

Dry Ice!

Local scientist Stan Swan popped in to Room1 to show us an 
experiment with dry ice!

Dry ice is frozen carbon dioxide and when we added it to a 

container of water it produced clouds of steamy gas, just like 

smoke! Very exciting!

 Dry ice is frozen and so cold that it will burn your fingers if you touch it. We watched carefully with our eyes and Stan let us waft the warmer clouds of gas with our hands!

Clay

This term we are working with clay.
On Thursday we rolled beads which we will paint later!

Halloween!
