Happy Holiday

Barbara Ryan and Room 1 wish everyone a safe and happy holiday!
We will be keen to start the new term happy and refreshed and are looking forward to our study of the Olympic Games!

Mosaic Tiles

Room 1 loved making the mosaic tile for our butterfly garden so much that everyone made one to take home!

Super Soccer Stars!

Room 1 have all enjoyed soccer coaching on Friday mornings over the past 9 weeks.

We learned to dribble the ball with our feet and played lots of friendly soccer games with our classmates. Our coaches were awesome so we had a class photo together on the last day.

The Disco!

Everyone loved the disco tonight!

A mosaic tile for our Butterfly Garden

Yesterday Room 1 students worked together to make a mosaic tile for our garden. Butterflies like to land on  rocks and stones to warm themselves so we hope that they will like our new tile when the weather gets warmer! We can use it to step on when we pull out the weeds and water our garden as well. We need to leave it inside to set hard until after the holidays.

First we planned our design on paper.

We mixed the cement mix and water in a big bucket.

We put a sheet of reinforcing mesh in the  middle so it will be strong.

We took turns to push the glass beads from our design into the wet concrete mix.

Room 1 think it looks great!

We hope butterflies like it too!

Magic Tree

Room 1 assembled a Magic Tree science experiment and then watched carefully to see what happened. We have been learning to write instructions so we wrote about what we did, making sure we put each step in the right order.
This was our first try, and everyone was proud of their writing.

1/2's & 1/4's

Our current maths topic is  Fractions.
We are learning to find 1/2 and 1/4 of an object and to find 1/2 and 1/4 of a group  of objects. 
Today Room 1 were exploring different ways of dividing slices of bread into 1/2's and 1/4's. 
Then we turned our 1/4's into fairy bread and gobbled it up! 
Yum Yum!

Tomorrow we will write about it at writing time.

Assembly Week 7

Our last school assembly was a special one for Year 1 to 4 students. Each class presented one certificate.

Our great role model was Marcus. 

Reading Eggs!

Room 1 love Reading Eggs, the computer programme that we are trialling. Today we showed it to our big Room 8 buddies and they loved using it too!

Clever Ned

Ned has been learning the violin since last year and has his lessons at school. Yesterday he played for us before his lesson. He is going to play at assembly tomorrow and has been practising every day.

Well done Ned. We all think you are so clever!
