Room 3 Assembly on Friday

Ben, Paige and Harry showed their super magnet paintings and were awarded a certificate each at Room 3's assembly on Friday.
I am so lucky to be teaching them in Room 1 from next Monday!
Welcome to Room 1 Ben, Paige and Harry!

Kindy Visit

On Friday I visited East Harbour Kindergarten with Mrs Buckley and saw some of the children who will be in Room1.
It was Una's last day and she had decorated an amazing crown!
Clever girl Una!
It will be great to see you at school on Monday!

Fizz inflator in Room7

Scientist Ben & his helper Charlie demonstrated how to make a fizz inflator in Room 7.
Great description of what was happening when the baking soda & vinegar mixed to produce carbon dioxide gas to blow up the balloon Ben!

New Entrant visitors 5th June

This morning we had 9 wonderful visitors in Room 1!
Paige, Ben, Una, Harry, Thomas, Catja, Elizabeth, Satchel and Madia will all be in my class when it starts in 2 weeks or when they turn 5 years old. We learned about Munching Mike,  made moving monkeys and  had a great time learning about sharing and helping each other at school.

Can you push a pencil through a plastic bag?

I am teaching Room 7 for 2 weeks and we have been doing lots of science investigations!
Can you push a pencil through a plastic bag of water without spilling a drop?
Most people in Room 7 thought NO.
5 people thought may be.
No one thought yes!
We tried it out to see!

How does it work?
Is It Magic!
No! It is SCIENCE!
The plastic in the bags contains stretchy polymers which stretch like tight elastic around the pencils as they are pushed through. Try it at home using a very sharp pencil!

Friday Rocket blast off

Well done everyone!
Friday's water  rocket blast off was magnificent!
Every class launched a rocket that flew and it was great to hear you all encouraging and cheering each other!  Congratulations Room 15 for taking out the title of supreme champions!
A special thank you to Roger the Rocket Man (our wonderful school caretaker) for your focussed judging.
Just as well Mr Bird brought you both hard hats!

Science Week for the teachers!

The teachers came to Room 1 to make water rockets together!
Teachers are always learning too! They had to work in  groups and share the materials just like the students!

Pre School Visitors

We have some visitors to Room 1 now!
Some children will be starting school soon! Very exciting!
East Harbour Kindergarten  visited us on Tuesday.
They loved playing together on the junior playground and experimented with the magnetic sand as it was science week.

What a fabulous straight line behind the "superstar"!
I can't wait for you all to start school!
