Emma's First Day.

Emma had an exciting start to her first day! After meeting up with her friends Mila and Alex, she ran and rode her bike in the Junior School Duathlon! She enjoyed sharing news about her singing Barbie, writing on the whiteboard, reading from her browsing box and with the teacher, eating lunch with her friends and playing on the slide at lunchtime. Well done Emma, you had a happy smile all day!

Preschool visitors.

Thursday is preschool visit day and today we had 7 visitors to Room 1. We are looking forward to them starting school! It was great to have morning tea together and make mouse masks as Mm is the letter of the week.

Gingerbread Men!

Today we visited our buddies in Room 11. We wanted to thank them for helping us make our gingerbread men so we took them some to share. It was the first time some of us had been up the stairs in the big classroom block!

PMP

Rooms 1 & 3 have been working together on the perceptual motor programme.
The activities involve using the muscles in our bodies in many different ways.
See how clever we are at twirling the ribbons this week!

Why do gingerbread men get bigger when they cook?

Puffy fat cooked gingerbread men!
Thin uncooked gingerbread men!

Kaya brought fresh eggs from his hens for the recipe.

This week our inquiry question about food changes is why do gingerbread men get bigger when they cook? To find out we baked gingerbread men with our Room 11 buddies and compared the sizes. The cooked gingerbread men were bigger and higher! Poppy thinks that the heat makes the mixed up ingredients puff up. Our next step is to mix the baking soda with cold water and then mix some with hot water to see what happens next!

Little Dribblers!

Today Years1&2 participated in a sports afternoon organised by Tony from Little Dribblers.
Our teams were The Cannons and The Stars. The Stars had help from some year2's to make up the numbers and played right up to the finals!

Ruby's First Day

Ruby had her first day at school today and is already keen to have a turn as "superstar".
She enjoyed making birthday cakes and counting the candles at maths time, pointing to the words in her reading book and having lunch outside with her friends.
After lunch she became a scientist investigating food colour change and worked on Letterland on a laptop. Best of all she enjoyed reading the story she wrote about her mum to big sister Ella. Well done Ruby!

Welcome to Joe

Joe joined us in Room 1 today. He enjoyed finding objects the same size as his gingerbread man at maths time and playing on the junior playground with his new friends. After lunch he met our buddy class, Room 11. He loves to read and is very clever at drawing people. Well done Joe!

Mathematical Measurements!

Room 1 are very busy measuring objects in our classroom at present!
We are learning the importance of starting from a baseline in these photos.

Room 1 love working with our buddies! We worked with mixed media this week, making t shirt pictures with magazine collage of our favourite foods on the front. This artwork ties in with our science inquiry "food changes"
