Our Art focus this term has been observational drawing. Room 1 are learning to look carefully at the objects they are going to draw and then sketch what they can actually see. They keep checking with their eyes rather than try and remember in their heads. The sketches are then coloured with matching pastels.
We hope you like our observational drawings of Paddington Bear! Check out the beautifully sketched toggles on his blue duffle coat!

Lucky Ted!
Lola made Ted some new glasses when he had a sleep over at her house.
Now he can see the whiteboard properly!
Thank you Lola!
Well done everyone!
You are all doing some amazing work!

Today the whole school enjoyed a wonderful electronic music performance in the hall!
There was lots of action - sound making, singing and lots of dancing! Lola was one of the children chosen to dance on the stage - so were Mrs Ryan, Miss Roberts, Miss Berry and Ms Naik!
Well done Red table! You worked together sensibly and co-operatively last week.
Room 1 made friendship circles with cutout paper dolls! What a lot of friends everyone has! We joined all the circles together to make a Room 1 mat to show that we all get on together. Well done everyone!

This week we made our butterfly kites with our big buddies. We are currently exploring shape and symmetry in maths and it was great for everyone to have another pair of hands to help with the tricky folds!
We had wonderful time flying them outside but unfortunately there was no wind on Friday and the kites would not stay up in the air for long! We have hung them up to wait for the next windy day and will try again!
Over the past 4 weeks Room 1 has carried out a number of statistical observations during our mathematics lessons. We have been learning to record our information in various ways. Our favourite lesson was graphing the colours of the smarties in each of our boxes!
Group of the week is Yellow table.
They earned the most points for their table group by being focussed and ready to listen really quickly every day. Well done yellow table!
Today we held our junior School Swimming Festival at the Eastbourne Pool. The focus this year was on participation in fun events rather than being the winner. Favourite events were swimming with "noodles" and running down the pool blowing bubbles and pushing a ball with your nose! After our swim we had lunch at the park and a play in the playground.

Well done everyone!
Green table did an amazing job organising themselves to be the best that they could be all week!
They earned the most points every day!
Assembly certificate winners have been wonderful role models this week!
Our Room 8 buddies came visiting on Friday to show us their homework for the week. They had all made amazing caterpillar models! They are learning about life cycles too!
Room 1 have a special class member named Travelling Ted. Most school days he goes home with the Superstar of the day, who tells the class about his adventures the next day! At George's house his family made him a lovely new back pack! Here is George telling us all about it at news time!
Room1 have been completing their self portraits using black pens, pastels, crayons and dye. They looked carefully at the size of different parts of their bodies and drew on the whole sheet of paper with their head at the top, feet at the bottom. We enlarged the drawings on the photocopier and they filled in the detail with crayon, pastel and dye.
We hope you like them as much as we do!
